Program and Resident Evaluations

The evaluation process has been streamlined by making it a web-based, totally anonymous, event using the e-value system.

The residents are evaluated by the faculty in October and March of each year. The form is based on the ACGME competencies and also requires extensive narrative input.* These evaluations are discussed with each resident in a private conference with the program director and the chairman.

The residents evaluate the faculty using the same system twice a year. Confidentiality and anonymity are assured through the system. The data is discussed with the faculty and feedback is assured by meetings with the program director and the chairman.

In addition, the resident and faculty evaluate the program once a year. Feedback is accomplished in a quarterly curriculum committee meeting. This committee is made up of all the residents and faculty combined. This has proved to be an extremely efficient method for keeping the educational program up to date and vital.

*Multiple-source evaluations by support staff, mid-level providers, floor nurses and self-assessments help to round’ out the 360° approach.
