BenefitsThe University of Rochester benefits include medical insurance, dental coverage, malpractice, disability, and life insurance. The Department allows for four weeks of paid vacation per year. Lab Coats—Embroidery and LaunderingThe Graduate Medical Education (GME) office provides each resident with three lab coats annually. Embroidery is taken care of through the OB/GYN Residency Education Office. Residents are responsible for laundering their own coats. Xerographic CopiesResidents receive $40 worth of copying per year on their hospital ID. Health Insurance FeesAll housestaff are enrolled in the prepaid health plan through the University Health Service. Housestaff, their spouses, and dependent minor children may choose from a variety of different health plans. Upon appointment, house officers, their spouses, and dependent minor children are also covered by the Dental Assistance Plan (see Summary of Benefits).
