John F. Steege, MD is a graduate of Stanford University, where he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in 1968 in Biological Sciences.  He graduated cum laude from Yale University School of Medicine in 1972.  Dr. Steege continued his residency and fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.  He completed his internship in Medicine and Pediatrics in 1973, continued in an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency from 1973 – 1976, and completed a Fellowship in Human Sexuality in 1977. 

Dr. Steege is currently a Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is the Director of the Division of Advanced Laparoscopy and Pelvic Pain at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Previously, Dr. Steege was a Clinical Associate Professor at Duke University Medical Center. 

Dr. Steege has authored numerous book chapters and co-authored two books, Chronic Pelvic Pain: An Integrated Approach in 1998 and Manual of Operative Endoscopy in 1996.  Dr. Steege is consistently ranked among America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd.
