Diversity—Our Purpose/Mission
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester is excited and committed to "Create an environment within the Department and Golisano Children’s Hospital that both embraces diversity and inclusivity among its members and reflects the cultures of the patients and families we serve."
- Provide a network and support system for our trainees and faculty.
- Promote and embrace cultural competence and diversity among our colleagues and patients within the Department of Pediatrics.
- Produce an image of the Department of Pediatrics that expresses a strong commitment to diversity.
- Increase the number of minority trainees and faculty in the Department of Pediatrics. Create a pipeline of underrepresented minority candidates at the residency, fellowship, and faculty levels for both recruitment and retention.
- Increase the Department of Pediatrics Diversity Committee’s presence among our medical students (e.g., SNMA faculty liaison, minority support network).
Our efforts are in support of and in conjunction with the University of Rochester and its diversity initiatives.
