Pediatric Resident Research Track

“The pediatrician-scientist of the future will not only need to be educated to provide the highest standard of care for children, but also must acquire the skills necessary to conduct independent, funded research, to educate other health care providers, and to serve as the principal consultant to all health care providers involved in caring for children with severe, complex, or rare disease.”
~Simon JL, Chesney RW, Alden ER, Mulvey MA 2000. The Future of Pediatric Education II

We are committed to offering programs that allow our residents to reach their fullest potential and achieve career goals. For this reason, the University of Rochester Department of Pediatrics offers a Resident ResearchTrack for those interested in exploring research and academic careers. This track, designed specifically to accommodate a wide range of interests is an option for all residents, not only those who already have a research focus.

The goal of this program is to encourage residents to explore research, since it is research, whether health services, clinical, or bench, that plays a vital role in ensuring that optimal health care is available for all children.
