Clinical Teaching Rounds

docsMuch of the learning occurs in one on one attending/resident patient rounds or formal/ informal settings in small groups discussing aspects of diagnosis and patient management. These include teaching rounds on selected patients with other teams, radiology rounds reviewing interesting cases and films, rounding with PM&R, rheumatology, and neurology, reviewing selected topics in small groups that are relevant to current clinical management issues.

On the inpatient rehabilitation units, attendings round with residents 7 days per week. Residents present their history and physical exam, synthesis, and suggested course of management to the attending for review and guidance. Progressive responsibility for patient management is given to the resident as he/she displays improved assessment and management skills.
