The Department of Radiation Oncology is a full academic department at the University of Rochester. Our faculty is nationally recognized and our department is a leading force in cancer treatment and research, pioneering novel treatments in shaped beam surgery, the latest in patient motion research, as well as world renowned basic science breakthroughs. We pride ourselves on being a close-knit and friendly Department, with a tradition of providing excellent patient-oriented care. Under the guidance of our Chair, Dr. Yuhchyau Chen, our Department is rapidly evolving new treatment modalities, including three-dimensional treatment planning, intensity modulated and image-guided radiation therapy, and other advances that will become the mainstay of radiation therapy in the future. Our Residency Program has been fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 1971. Our well-established 4-year program is currently approved for 6 residency positions. We offer a rigorous program within a friendly and supportive environment.
