Teaching Conferences and RoundsProgram administrators have established an intense and comprehensive didactic educational regimen for all their trainees — marked by a substantial commitment to conferences and rounds. For instance, House Officers are released from clinical duties for a three-hour period every week to attend Surgery Grand Rounds, surgical basic science, and city-wide case presentation conference. Other conferences might include a weekly journal club, the GI/surgical oncology conference, the Department of Surgery Research Conference, a quality assurance conference and the Senior's Thesis Program. In addition, each subspecialty clinical service conducts its own service-specific teaching conference. |
