Evaluation

Resident performance is regularly reviewed to ensure satisfactory progress. Informal feedback will be given throughout the year by faculty, attending physicians, and fellow residents. Formal feedback is delivered every six months, when each resident meets with the program director to review performance.

The resident is evaluated on a variety of parameters including their clinical and basic science knowledge as well as their technical skills and professional demeanor. Residents are expected to function as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team in which there is evidence of mutual respect and cooperation among all personnel, empathy, understanding, compassion, integrity, and honesty in dealings with patients and families, and an unequivocal demonstration of a willingness and desire for continuing education and self-improvement.
