Strong Memorial Hospital Training ProgramStrong Memorial Hospital (SMH), a part of the University of Rochester Medical Center, is fully owned and operated by the University of Rochester. The hospital serves as a primary care community hospital, a Level I trauma center, a tertiary and quaternary care referral center for Upstate New York, and an international referral center. SMH is the primary teaching hospital for the Urology Residency Program, including full neonatal, pediatric, and adult intensive care and related services. A new state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility was opened in 1996. With the new facility, the hospital and medical school all under one roof, easy access among clinicians, scientists, and students is a reality. The Medical Center offers indoor recreational facilities such as squash, racquetball, basketball courts, and is fully equipped with weight-training equipment, stair-climbers, treadmills, and rowing machines. Indoor and outdoor tennis courts are located adjacent to the Medical Center and the University’s main campus nearby. Also available at the main campus are an olympic-size swimming pool and indoor and outdoor tracks. |
