Training Grant in Oral Infectious Diseases (T32 DE007165)

Principal Investigator/Training Grant Director: Rob Quivey

The Program in Oral Infectious Diseases is designed to provide pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students an opportunity to acquire training in laboratories with specific emphasis on the microbiological and immunologic aspects of oral diseases. The program options include training for students with previous clinical training (D.D.S., D.M.D. or equivalent) as well as those seeking to obtain the Ph.D. degree or to extend their post-Ph.D. education. The goal of the program is to prepare students for research careers with a microbiological focus.

This multidisciplinary program cuts across traditional departmental boundaries and allows students the freedom to choose amongst participating mentors without regard to specific departmental affiliations. Didactic courses, given through the cluster of choice, will be integrated with required oral science courses. The University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry has an extraordinarily long and successful history of training persons in clinical and basic oral sciences. Clinical research appointments are readily available in the Eastman Department of Dentistry and the Center for Oral Biology.
