Alumni
MD/PhD students comprise a diverse group of individuals and backgrounds with a common interest in benefiting human health through research and innovation. Graduates of our program typically engage in residency and subspecialty training and go on to assume academic positions at major medical institutions.
Of 38 MD/PhD students graduating from the University of Rochester between 1987 and 1999, most pursued residency training. Of these, 34 remain in the academic track with 12 currently holding faculty appointments at the Assistant professor or higher level, 12 independently funded through RO1 or K award mechanisms, and 13 still in fellowship training. Ultimately many rise into academic leadership positions, fulfilling important missions in educating future generations of physicians and physician-scientists.
Additional information about the professional and family lives of MD/PhD alumni can be found in our Semi-annual Newsletters.
