Alumni

The Department of Anatomy was among the initial five basic science departments of this institution. Graduate education was among its earliest missions. Since the first candidates matriculated in 1929, more than 90 Ph.D. degrees have been conferred in Anatomy, or since 1985, Neurobiology and Anatomy.

We remain proud of our enduring history and of the quality and diversity of our graduates. Since the Department's inception, our Program has been characterized by a cooperative and collaborative style, including interactions with numerous clinical departments and dentistry. Unusually high proportions (over a third) of our graduates hold both the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, and others the D.D.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Many have achieved highly prominent leadership roles in institutions across the country, including the current President of SUNY Albany and the Dean of the Harvard Medical School.

Our dedication to the quality and diversity of training continues today. Ph.D. candidates experience a research and educational environment that provides unusual depth and breadth. This in turn translates into a highly attractive outcome as students in Neurobiology and Anatomy look toward their future as tomorrow's scientist/educators.
