ANA 506. Human Embryology and Developmental Biology

Prerequisites: ANA 526 or equivalent
Credit: three hours
This lecture and laboratory course covers classic human embryology with an emphasis
on clinical consequences related to congenital anomalies. Additionally, specific
lectures in clinical developmental biology with an emphasis on cell and molecular
biology will supplement the descriptive embryology and will include topics currently
being researched by Rochester faculty. The course will meet each week for 3 hours
during the Spring semester and each weekly session will include 2 didactic/discussion
hours and 1 hour of laboratory viewing the Carnegie Collection of human embryos.
Student participation, a midterm library research presentation and final essay exam
will form the basis for student evaluation. (spring)
