We seek highly qualified individuals to fill four positions (2 predoctoral and 2 postdoctoral). Predoctoral candidates must be established students in a participating investigator's laboratory, typically in their second year and beyond, who are committed to projects in the general areas of Neuroinflammation and/or Glial Cell Biology. Applications for postdoctoral positions are invited from all qualified individuals. Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents.
Postdoctoral Applications
Invited at any time. Applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. O'Banion, the Program Director, as well as training faculty identified on the basis of specific research interest, in advance of their application. The following materials are required:
- A brief (1-3 page) Description of Previous Research Experience and how your research career plans fit into general area of Neuroinflammation and Glial Cell Biology
- An NIH-style Biosketch listing previous education, funding sources, and all publications, including abstracts presented at meetings.
- Three Letters of Recommendation, highlighting qualifications for this training grant and promise for a career as an independent investigator. One of these letters must be from your PhD Advisor.
Promising Postdoctoral Candidates will be invited to Rochester to meet with Program Faculty and present a seminar based on their thesis research.
Predoctoral Applications
Solicited as slots become available. Predoctoral applicants should work with their advisors to provide the following information:
- A brief (1-3 page) Project Description including background, hypotheses to be tested, specific aims, and significance of work in relationship to understanding neuroinflammation or glial cell biology.
- An NIH-style student Biosketch
- A Letter of Recommendation from your advisor. Assurance that funds are available for covering research costs and any stipend above NIH dictated levels is also required
For Predoctoral Candidates we will gather additional information from their Graduate School Records including:
- A copy of their current University of Rochester Transcript
- A copy of their original Application to Graduate School
