Biography
 
  • Clinical Associate Professor of PM&R and Neurology and Chair of the Department of PM&R at Unity Health System.

Dr. Dombovy received her M.D. degree from Mayo Medical School, completed neurology residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, and PM&R residency at the University of Wisconsin.  She is Board Certified in both PM&R and neurology.  She completed a fellowship in Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine in 1996-97, and received her Master’s Degree in Health Systems Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2001.  Dr. Dombovy’s major area of clinical and research interest is in recovery from stroke and brain injury, and she has numerous publications and national presentations covering various aspects of stroke and brain injury.  She has been the primary investigator on several studies examining outcome following brain injury and stroke.  A more recent focus has been health care service delivery and designing medical education to impact on the future of health care.  Dr. Dombovy is on the board of several national organizations including the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF Chair, 1999) and the American Society of Neurorehabilitation.  She is a reviewer for several journals and in 1997 produced a synopsis of neurorehabilitation with an accompanying video for the American Academy of Neurology.  She has been an oral examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1988.
