In addition to Adjunct Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Rochester Medical Center, Dr. Scherer is Director, Institute for Matching Person & Technology. She is also Sr. Research Associate, International Center for Hearing and Speech Research (a joint program of the University of Rochester and National Technical Institute for the Deaf/Rochester Institute of Technology). She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association in Rehabilitation Psychology as well as in Applied Experimental and Engineering Psychology and in Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics. She is also a Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and a member of the editorial board of the journal Disability and Rehabilitation, official journal of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Scherer is author of the books, Connecting to Learn: Educational and Assistive Technology for People with Disabilities and Living in the State of Stuck: How Assistive Technology Impacts the Lives of People with Disabilitie (now in its 4th edition). She edited the book, Assistive Technology : Matching Device and Consumer for Successful Rehabilitation, and she co-edited the books, Evaluating, Selecting, and Using Appropriate Assistive Technology and Psychological Assessment in Medical Rehabilitation. Dr. Scherer has presented at many conferences in the U.S., Canada, Europe and in Australia. |
