Biography
 
  • Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics

Dr Speach completed his undergraduate training in 1984 at the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in Preprofessional Studies. He completed his medical degree at the State of New York, Upstate Medical Center in 1988. Following an internship year in Transitional Medicine, Dr Speach served as a general medical officer and a brigade surgeon for the 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Drum, NY. In 1996, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. After residency, Dr Speach held a full time faculty appointment with the University of Rochester and served as an attending physician with Unity Health System. His experience included medical directorship of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center that provided full outpatient services for individuals suffering from acute and chronic neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Dr Speach joined the Department of Orthopaedics, Division of Spine Surgery in 2002. He provides nonsurgical evaluation and management of spinal pain. Dr Speach has additional interests and expertise in the performance of electrodiagnostic studies to assess for peripheral nerve injury, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy and the performance of disability determinations. He co-directs the resident electrodiagnosis courses and the medical school PM&R elective.
