Who We Are

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Team

We work together with the entire rehab team of doctors, nurses, and therapists to assist the patient after a Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, M.S. or other serious injury or illness to improve his or her ability to function independently at home in daily life tasks. Our rehab OTs continually update their skills to keep up with new changes in technology.

The Acute Care Team

Assessing the ability to be independent at home following a hospitalization, is an important role for the inpatient OT at Strong. Starting the rehab process as soon as possible and making recommendations for follow up care, keeps us quite busy. We work on all units of the hospital including orthopedics, neurology, medicine, surgery, burn/trauma unit, cardiac/pulmonary unit and ICUs.

The Pediatrics Team Pediatric OTs at Strong have special training in issues and problems related to children. You may see them working with feeding problems in the Intensive Care Nursery, making a splint for an arthritic child, assessing fine motor skills of a learning disabled child, or teaching a mother how to help her child in a wheelchair to dress himself.

The Outpatient Team For many patients, the Rehab process continues on an outpatient basis. Options include continuing with their current therapist, coordinating appointments with other therapies, or moving on to our new location in the Ambulatory Care Building. Special programs exist in Hand Therapy, Action Program for Arthritis and Fibromyalgia, Splinting, Burns, Stroke Clinic, and Spinal Cord Injury Clinic.
