Dr. Conwell directs a program of research the long term goal of which is to design and test strategies for suicide prevention across the life course. His studies have emphasized the definition of risk factors for suicide and
attempted suicide in later life. More recently his work has incorporated the design, implementation, and testing of preventive, strategies in collaboration with community-based social service agencies. He also collaborates with a wide range of investigators in other ongoing projects in the United States and China.
