Professional Overview

Dr. Elizabeth J. Santos completed general psychiatry training at SUNY Buffalo and a combined Geriatric Psychiatry and HRSA Interdisciplinary Geriatric Fellowship at the University of Rochester.  Dr. Santos has always been committed to strengthening medical education at all levels and she joined the HRSA fellowship because they highlighted training clinician-educators with a focus on incorporating educational tools and models led by educators from the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester.  Her clinical work involves nursing home psychiatric consultation and she is also an attending in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at the University of Rochester Medical Center.  Dr. Santos is continuing her training as an NRSA postdoctoral research fellow and MPH candidate.  Elder mistreatment is the focus of her research, including development of screening tools, training evaluators, public policy, advocacy for older adults, education, and psychopathology of victims and perpetrators.
