Dear Visitors
Welcome to the UR Sleep & Neurophysiology Research Laboratory (UR-SNRL). This web site provides information about our group, our research and out educational activities
In brief, our research group has, over the course of the last 10 years, dedicated itself to the study of the causes and consequences of, and treatments for insomnia.
In recent years, we have had the great pleasure to work with colleagues from immunology, anesthesiology, neurology, pediatrics, psychology and cancer research to name a few. These collaborations, which have been not only with individuals from the URMC but, also with laboratories across North America and Europe, have served to broaden our vision of the present and future of insomnia research.
But please know, while the vision has broadened, at the end of the day, our mission remains the same. We will always ask the question "what is insomnia?" and strive to discover how we can treat insomnia so that patients sleep better, function better during the day, and find themselves less at risk for the diseases that co-occur with, and stem from, untreated insomnia.
Finally, it is important to acknowledge that our ability to conduct insomnia research is not only dependent on the work efforts of our staff and faculty here at the UR-SNRL, our colleagues, funding from the NIH and Pharmaceutical Industry, and infrastructure support from our Department and the University, but also our volunteers.
The work we do could not be done without the time and energy given to us by our volunteer participants. Our group, as well as all patients with insomnia, owes each and all of them a debt of gratitude.
In sum, please feel free to explore our webpage and contact us if you have any questions and/or comments.
Sincerely,
Michael Perlis, PhD
