Diagnosis: Motion artifact Discussion: Motion artifact is commonly seen on axial images on CT, especially in patients with altered mental status. Often times, a scout image has to be repeated if the patient moves between the time of scout and when the axial images are obtained. Less often, motion artifact is captured on the scout CT image itself as in this example. References:
