Alpha Omega Alpha Student Essay Awards

  • Description: The purpose of this award is to encourage medical students to address general topics in medicine and to enable Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society to recognize excellent and thoughtful student presentations in a tangible way. Students must write essays while they are in medical school, each entry must represent the work of one author only, and no more than one entry will be accepted from any individual.

Alpha Omega Alpha Student Research Fellowship

  • Description: The purpose of this fellowship is to stimulate interest in research among medical students. Areas of research may include clinical investigation, basic research, epidemiology, and social science/health service research. Because this program is designed to attract students without extensive research experience, those with Ph.D. degrees and those enrolled in MD/Ph.D. programs are not eligible.

Altoona Hospital Summer Preceptorship Program

  • Description: All students spend one week in the office of Allegheny Family Physicians as well as one week working with the residents on their inpatient Medical Service. The student may then select from a variety of one week blocks including Medical and Surgical rotations, Ambulatory Care, Radiology, Laboratory, etc. Time may also be spent in the offices of a variety of primary care physicians in both urban and rural settings. Students are provided with free housing and may eat in the hospital cafeteria free of charge. Students should provide their own transportation.

American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology - Summer Fellowship Grant

  • Description: The AAAAI provides this grant for medical students who are interested in pursuing research in the areas of physiology of allergic diseases, pharmacology of allergy and inflammation, basic cellular and molecular immunology, AIDS and other topics pertinent to the understanding of allergic and immune mechanisms of disease.   • Description: The Political Leadership Institute (PLI) focuses on teaching political and activist techniques within the context of public health and health policy issues. University Of Texas Anderson Cancer Center - Medical Student Summer Research Program in Biomedical Sciences

  • Description: The purpose of the program is to provide participants with firsthand biomedical research experience in the basic or clinical sciences. Student projects are submitted by faculty mentors at the Cancer Center and will reflect ongoing research efforts in the Institutions clinics and laboratories. Students will actively participate in both the technical aspects of their project as well as interpretation of experimental data.

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine - Medical Student Research Training Program in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases
