International Health Advising

The Office of Student Enrichment Programs along with interested faculty counsel students on how to set up and finance their own international health electives. Students can receive academic credit for fourth-year electives when approved by their Advisory Dean. For students to receive academic credit:

  1. They must be Fourth-Year students in good academic standing.
  2. They must have a University of Rochester faculty preceptor.

A manual prepared by one of our students on "Tips for Funding International Health Electives" is available through the Office of International Medicine, as well as other funding information.

Students are encouraged to investigate the international health resource materials in the Resource Library, located in the Offices for Medical Education (G-9546). This library includes reports from Rochester students, detailed listings of all U.S. organizations active in international health, and several helpful reports from the American Medical Student Association (AMSA).
