Alpha Omega Alpha and Dean's Letter Rankings
AOA Selection and Dean's Letter Rankings (Class of 2001)The MSPRB's role in the AOA selection process is to identify as many as twenty-five (25) students eligible for AOA consideration. The AOA Selection Committee will make the final decision regarding the students selected (should not exceed one sixth of the graduating class). Factors taken into consideration for the rankings
Formula to determine rankings
The formula will be used for the initial rankings for the Dean's Letters and to identify the candidates eligible for AOA. After calculating the top 25 students (using the above formula), the AOA Selection Committee will consider first and second year letters of commendation (for classes up to 2002 only) and community service/leadership (outlined in the Dean's Letter) in selecting the approximately 16 students for induction into AOA. Letters of commendation (for classes up to 2002 only) will also be used to potentially move students who fall at boundary points up to a higher Dean's Letter ranking. The following descriptors will be used for the Dean's Letter rankings: Outstanding (20%), Excellent (20%), Very Good (55%) and Good (5%). Listed below are the target dates for completing the steps for finalizing the Dean's Letter rankings and the AOA selection process.
