URMC In-Service Education Competency Exam

Go!

All medical students must complete the URMC In-service Education Competency Exam on an annual basis.

The exam consists of approximately 57 questions on the SMH-URMC version and an additional 12 questions for the Highland Hospital certification.

There is not a defined passing grade. The goal is for everyone to retain the information and/or know how to get it as needed. The competency test can be completed as you read the manual. The manual for the exam is available on the Medical Center Web page at: http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/LEARN/manual/.

First year students must complete the exam as a part of the requirement for registration and matriculation. Although there is a September 30th deadline for second through fourth years students to complete the certification process, all students are encouraged to complete the exam ASAP.

All students will receive hard copies of the exam questions and scanable answer sheets on an annual basis. Students who desire to complete the certification process before the annual mailing is sent, can access the manual, questions and answer sheet on the web. The completed answer sheets should be submitted to the Register's Office.

In addition to the manual, a video will also be available to review the exam content.

All students must complete the annual certification process not later than September 30th. Students who fail to complete the certification process by September 30th, will be required to discontinue their academic programs, until the certification has been completed.
