Personal Digital Assitants (PDA's) are a vital tool for the new physician.  Below you will find links to websites of the manufacturers of many common PDA's, links to software download sites, and some review and info sites.  If you have anything to add, please feel free to contact the webmaster.

Manufacturers

Palm:  maker of several popular PDA's, including Palm m125, m130, m500, and m515.

Sony:  Well known for innovations in high resolution screens, built in MP3 players, and jog-dials.  Make the popular CLIE PDA.

Handspring:  The makers of the Visor handheld PDA's.  Have committed to making handheld commmunicators (PDA/Cell phone combo).

Handera:  Make an interesting product, the Handera 330, a PDA that supports both MMC as well as CompactFlash memory.  Includes microphone and speaker for recording audio notes. 

Casio:  Company that makes several Pocket PC's.

ePocrates:  Simply the best downloadable drug database available for PDA's.

Peripheral Brain:  Site containing many free medical application downloads designed/collected by a family medicine physician.

PDA Cortex:  Contains PDA info, reviews, software, and links.

Handango:  The "leading publisher of mobile software."  Mostly retail software for PDA's and pocket PC's.

pdaMD:  Retail software, information, and PDA news.

Handheldmed:  "Handheldmed delivers point of care content and applications ideally suited for busy healthcare professionals."

Medicalpocketpc:  Site geared towards medical software for the Pocket PC.

Ephysician:  Site proves ePhysician Practice, a suite of software products that enables physicians to prescribe meds, access drug reference, schedule patients, billing, etc.

HealthyPalmPilot:  Site that contains over 750 available health-related software downloads.

PalmGear:  Site consists of over 14 thousand software titles (mostly retail).

CollectiveMed:  The "premier source for medical PDA hardware and software on the internet." 

Skyscape:  Site that contains an extensive medical reference software collection.  Can demo and buy.

MemoWare:  Site consists mostly of text documents (e.g., e-books, reference, info/lists).

Cnet:  This site gives reviews of technology and electronics as well as customer feedback info.

Yale PDA Info: Info on hardware, software, and peripherals as well as links to other sites.

DocInTraining:  Site designed to assist physicians in the age of technology.

WardRounds:  An "online community for medical students, residents, and practicing physicians.  PDA software, info, and more.

AMSA:  If you are an AMSA member you can get ePocrates, the Merck Manual, and many free programs (e.g., MedCalc) for free at their site.  You can also purchase other programs (or these programs) if you are not a member.
