At the Department of Speech Pathology, in the Department of Otolaryngology, the role of the speech-language pathologist is to assess communication and swallowing impairments, diagnose the severity of the problems, and implement a treatment plan to help individuals regain as much of their communication and swallowing skills as possible.
Innovative and comprehensive diagnostic, rehabilitative, and counseling services are made available to patients who suffer from speech, language, cognition, hearing, and/or swallowing impairments. Treatment modalities may include individual and/or group therapy, computer-assisted treatment, and augmented communication assistance training.
Located near the River Campus of the University of Rochester, our 800-bed facility offers patient/resident focused clinical, nursing, and rehabilitative care necessary to address the medical, physical, and social needs of patients/residents. We emphasize a clinical program that focuses on assisting patients/residents to achieve their highest level of functioning.
