Aram Hezel Joins Wilmot Cancer Center GI Oncology Team

Aram Hezel, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor of Medicine and joins the Gastrointestinal Oncology Team at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. The hepatobiliary oncologist will focus on the research and treatment of pancreatic and liver cancers. He will also develop a multidisciplinary clinic with the liver transplant team.

Hezel studies the genetics of pancreatic and biliary tract cancers and tested novel treatments in preclinical settings. The recruit bolsters the Medical Center’s Strategic Plan and Cancer Integrated Disease Program.

He received a career development award from the National Cancer Institute and a Howard Hughes investigator award.  He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Association for Cancer Research. Click to view CV

He joins the Medical Center from Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School in Boston

Hezel is a graduate of Vassar College and studied at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center followed by a Fellowship in medical oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
