That compassion and concern for the well-being of our patients extends to family members, loved ones and visitors. We see you as a partner who shares our goal of helping your loved one heal.
This section provides helpful information regarding Strong Memorial Hospital’s hours and policies for spending time with your loved one.
Support Persons
For many patients, support from friends, family and loved ones is more than appreciated, it’s essential for providing the encouragement, communication and reassurance needed to boost morale and encourage healing. That’s why support person(s) are considered a key part of a patient’s health care team. Visiting Hours
General visiting hours at Strong Memorial hospital are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. When you arrive to visit your loved one or friend, please stop at the Information Desk located in the main lobby where one of the Ambassadors will help you with any questions you may have. Even if you have been visiting your patient regularly we kindly ask you to do this so you will know your patient’s current room number and be informed of any visiting restrictions that may be in effect.
To maintain a restful, healing environment we ask that all family, friends and visitors leave the hospital by 8:00 p.m. Designated support person(s) are an exception to this rule. Designated support person(s) are individuals whom a patient has identified as active members of the health care team.
Health is our primary concern. When you visit your loved one or friend please help keep them safe from infection by following these basic infection prevention precautions. These precautions will help safeguard your health as well.
After Hours For Others
From 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. all visitors must enter Strong Memorial Hospital through the main lobby. An Ambassador at the Information Desk will obtain permission from your patient’s unit for you to visit. For safety reasons, we ask that all support person(s) obtain a photo identification badge upon entry into the hospital after 8:00 p.m. For more information please read Visiting Information or download this visiting pass flyer.
Policies
Strong Memorial Hospital welcomes every individual regardless of age, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, military/veteran status or disability. We recognize and respect the visitation rights of all spouses and partners including same-sex spouses and domestic partners.
Cellular Phones
For your convenience, you are welcome to bring and use your cellular telephone within the hospital. However, in the event that the use of a personal electronic device risks interfering with patient care we will ask you to limit or refrain from using it. Please help us create a quiet, peaceful environment by setting your cell phone to vibrate.
Visitor Responsibilities
Strong Memorial Hospital is committed to providing a safe, healing environment for patients and their families. To make this possible we need your assistance in the following ways:
- To ensure cleanliness and for your protection, bathrooms in patient rooms are for patient use only. We ask that visitors please use public rest rooms.
- Our patients’ ability to protect themselves from germs and disease is compromised. Exposure to additional illness may complicate the healing process and place them at risk. If you are not feeling well or have an illness that could be transferred to our patients please refrain from visiting. If you are not sure, please check with your health care provider. Learn more ways you can stay in touch with your loved one if you are unable to come to the hospital.
- While in a hospital children are safest when accompanied by a trusted adult. We ask that you provide supervision for any visitors under the age of 12 anywhere in the hospital including a patient’s room or unit.
- Many patients have roommates. As a result, items in a room may belong to another individual. Please be respectful of the property of other persons and of the hospital.
- Quietness is a priority at Strong. In our ongoing effort to promote a restful, healing environment the following items are prohibited: alcoholic beverages, disruptive or violent behavior, smoking, street drugs and weapons.
- We understand that hospitals can be noisy. We ask that you partner with us in helping us control noise by:
- speaking softly
- placing your cell phone setting on vibrate and
- minimizing the number of visitors within your loved one’s room at one time.
