Interpreting Services

For our Deaf/hard-of-hearing or non-English speaking patients, a visit to the hospital can feel like a trip to another planet—no idea what the doctor is saying, and no way to describe the pain.

Interpreter services are available at Strong Memorial Hospital for persons who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, or for those who speak a language other than English.

• We have professional Spanish language interpreters and American Sign Language interpreters on call 24 hours a day for in-person translations.
• We can also provide translation for 150 other languages via a telephone system, enabling instantaneous translations at the speed of conversation.
• Assistive listening devices and closed captioning TV are available for patients who are hard-of-hearing or Deaf. Video phones are available.
