Gail Ingersoll, EdD, RN, FAAN, FNAP
Dr. Gail Ingersoll is the Director of Clinical Nursing Research at Strong Memorial Hospital and Loretta Ford Professor of Nursing at the School of Nursing. Dr. Ingersoll received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Alfred University and masters (Cardiopulmonary Nursing) and doctoral degrees (Educational Administration) from the University of Rochester. Upon completion of her doctoral studies, she was awarded a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Nurse Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Ingersoll is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the National Academies of Practice. She also is a member of honor societies in nursing, education and science. She has published extensively on nursing administration, organizational redesign, care delivery outcomes, and evaluation research methods. Her research background includes both health services and clinical research studies for which she has received over several million dollars in external funding. Currently, she is the director or co-director of four funded projects pertaining to workforce training and care delivery outcomes. The most recent of these include a five year demonstration project introducing and evaluating an expert practice focused educational and career advancement program in the critical care units of Strong Memorial Hospital (DHHS) and a program evaluation of an ergonomic model designed to retain experienced staff (RWJ).
