INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Module 19 of the American Association of Poison Control Centers electronic continuing education program for Specialists in Poison Information.  Bites and stings from a variety of venomous animals will be discussed with regard to clinical effects and treatment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

In regard to bites and stings, upon completion of this electronic continuing education module the participant will be able to:

1. Identify a number of venomous animals capable of producing a bite or sting.

2. Recognize the signs and symptoms associated with a bite or sting from a venomous animal.

3. Describe the treatment for a bite or sting from a venomous animal.
