A pharmacist calls and wants to know if an interaction exists between two medications.  In order to respond to this question in an efficient manner, what background information should be obtained prior to doing the research needed to answer the question

A. Has the patient in question received both medications and is an interaction suspected because of an adverse effect?

B. The patient’s age.

C. The indication for using each medication.

D. If both medications were prescribed by the same physician.

E. What references the pharmacist has reviewed, so that you the specialist does not waste time looking in the same references.
