Dr. Szilagyi is a respected community healthcare leader. He directs a city-wide outreach program that has reduced disparities in immunizations, and is Chair of the Board of Directors of the largest Medicaid Managed Care plan in Upstate NY. Nationally, he recently served on a standing study section for the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research (AHRQ) and is on the advisory board of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Community Pediatric Training Initiative. He is an active Board member and Immidiate Past-President of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) formally the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, the national organization of general academic pediatrics. Dr. Szilagyi is the 2002 recipient of the APA's national Research Award, a lifetime research achievement award.
