Dr. Weinberg's research interests are:

1) Vaccines and Vaccine Preventable Diseases

2) Pediatric HIV/AIDS

3) Clinical Trials

4) Antimicrobials.

Dr. Weinberg's current research focuses on three areas:

1) Clinical trials of new pharmaceuticals, biologics, and vaccines in children and pregnant women infected with HIV (funded by NIH/NICHD contract)

2) Integration of vaccine-preventable disease epidemiologic and laboratory surveillance with research on the improvement of vaccine delivery and efficacy (funded by CDC contract).

3) Definition of the role of iron in infection, particularly with regards to HIV infection and Pneumocystis carinii infection (a life-threatening infection of immunocompromised hosts).
