Dr. John F. Cox III was born near Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in Charlotte, N.C.. He received his BA degree from Williams College, and then lived in Japan for a year and a half before obtaining his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Rochester's Primary Care Program in Internal Medicine and served as Chief Medical Resident at The Genesee Hospital in 1994-95. Since 1995 he has been a general internist, providing primary care, teaching-- with a particular interest in promoting the practice and teaching of evidence-based medicine-- and doing research. His practice interests include helping patients quit smoking and other healthy lifestyle issues. He and his wife have three children. In his spare time he plays in an over-40 men's soccer league.
