Dr. Bukata is an orthopaedic oncologist, or a surgeon who focuses her practice on the care of patients with cancer of the bones, muscles, and soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. She also has an interest in disorders that cause bone to be fragile and more prone to fracture such as: metastatic disease from cancer, osteoporosis, Vitamin D disorders, Paget's disease, and genetic diseases of bone. She also has a great deal of experience with kyphoplasty to treat fractures of the vertebrae. Dr. Bukata strives to maximize quality of life for patients of all ages as she provides comprehensive skeletal care to prevent further fractures.

Dr. Bukata earned her medical degree from Columbia University and completed the residency in orthopaedic surgery at URMC. She then completed a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology and metabolic bone disease at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Today, Dr. Bukata is the Clinical Director of the Center for Bone Health at URMC and a regionally and nationally recognized expert on osteoporosis and other diseases that contribute to bone fragility. She is actively involved in National Institutes of Health and industry-sponsored clinical research to improve fracture healing and find causes of diseases that weaken the bone and lead to fractures.
