Dr. Manish N. Shah is Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, Community and Preventive Medicine, and Geriatrics at the University of Rochester. He is the Chief of the Division of Prehospital Medicine within the Department of Emergency Medicine.

He graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency training at The Ohio State University. He received further training in research as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Chicago.

Since returning to Rochester in 2001, Dr. Shah has been an active leader in the EMS community, serving as one of the Regional, Monroe County, Livingston County, and agency medical directors. His contributions were recognized in 2003 when he was awarded the EMS Physician of Excellence Award from the Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS Council and in 2009 when he was awarded the Harriet C. Weber EMS Leadership Award and the Lloyd Leve Award for Commitment to EMS and Leadership in EMS.

Dr. Shah is one of the leading emergency medicine researchers, particularly within the field of EMS. His specific interests are:

1) Improving the quality of care provided to EMS patients.

2) Providing EMTs geriatrics training in an effective and convenient manner.

3) Screening older adults in the emergency care setting to identify and address unmet needs.

He has received many federal and foundation grants to pursue these studies and has published approximately 50 manuscripts and 75 abstracts.
