Dr. Yoo's research interests include: (1) Behavior models of patients and providers in determining the receipt of vaccination and other preventive care, explored with microeconomic theory, (2) Evaluation of health intervention effectiveness in non-experimental data, using econometric methods to account for self-selection and other biases, (3) Cost-benefit/cost-effectiveness analysis of public health intervention, e.g., vaccination and newborn screening programs, and (4) International comparisons of health care systems among developed and developing countries.

Dr. Yoo has been engaged in a five-year research, "Effects of individual behavioral responses on benefits of influenza vaccination", sponsored by National Institute of Health/National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. This research aims to (i) to conduct empirical analyses among the U.S. elderly and child population to examine the determinants of flu vaccination receipt, and influenza vaccine effectiveness; and (ii) to construct computer simulation models for predicting the population-wide benefits of influenza vaccination and other interventions.
