Dr. Carlos E. Marroquin joins University of Rochester Medical Center as the Surgical

Director of the Kidney and Pancreas Programs and as Associate Professor of Surgery.

A native of El Salvador, he earned his undergraduate degrees from the University of

Maryland and California State University. Dr. Marroquin received his medical degree

from UCLA/DREW School of Medicine.

Prior to joining URMC, Dr. Marroquin completed his internship and residency in general

surgery at Georgetown University, where he later served as chief resident. He continued

his training as a fellow in immunotherapy and surgical oncology at National Cancer

Institute, National Institutes of Health.

From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Marroquin was a Delford Stickel Memorial transplant fellow

in solid organ transplantation at Duke University Medical Center. While there, he also

filled the roles of clinical associate and assistant professor in the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Marroquin is American Board Certified and licensed to practice in North Carolina and the District of Columbia.

He is the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors. Dr. Marroquin has authored numerous publications and has also been involved in many research studies, primarily in the field of solid organ transplantation.
