The University of Rochester Medical Center welcomes Christopher Taylor Barry, MD, PhD, FACS as an Associate Professor. Dr. Barry completed his undergraduate education with honors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then went on to earn his medical degree and PhD in immunology from Tufts University School of Medicine.

Prior to joining URMC, Dr. Barry completed his residency in the Department of General Surgery and his postdoctoral training in the Department of Biochemistry, both at Stanford University School of Medicine. From 2003 to 2005, he was a transplant surgery fellow and clinical instructor at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Barry later served as an abdominal transplant fellowship director and an assistant professor in residence, Department of General Surgery, Section of Transplantation, at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Barry's additional hospital appointments include transplant surgery attending at Children's Hospital, San Diego as well as the University of California, San Diego.

In addition to being American Board Certified, Dr. Barry is a member of professional organizations including American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplantation Society, American Society of Transplantation and Association for Academic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Barry is the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors and has authored numerous publications.
