Women's Health 2007

Conference Description

The Department of Imaging Sciences of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is pleased to invite you to attend Women's Health and Imaging in a Digital Environment – 2007. This comprehensive three-day conference will be held January 22-24, 2007 at The Westin Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio, Texas.

Women's health is a rapidly changing specialty. The topics selected for this conference cover the conventional imaging modalities as well as the emerging diagnostic, management and treatment protocols. This blend of topics will provide the necessary inter-discipline discussions to help establish the optimal treatment algorithms for contemporary women's healthcare management.

The environment in which women's health is practiced is currently transitioning from a film and paper-based environment to a near paperless and film-less environment. The results of the procedures performed and outcomes achieved must be structured so they can be incorporated into the electronic health record. The implementation of these activities requires collaboration between various groups of healthcare and information technology professionals.

Key topics to be presented at this conference include:

  • Film and digital-based mammography
  • Computer assisted diagnosis (CAD)
  • MR and CT-based mammography
  • Implementing a digital environment
  • Management of pelvic disease
  • Use of ultrasound in the detection and management of women's disease
  • Breast biopsy lectures and workshop
  • Surgical evaluation and management of breast disease
  • Minimally invasive therapeutic techniques
  • Imaging and managing women's cancers using PET/CT
  • Osteoporosis and estrogen replacement therapy
  • Cardiac evaluation of post-menopausal women

Who Should Attend

  • Radiologists, cardiologists, surgeons and other physicians who are responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of disease processes in women.
  • Nurses and technologists who participate in the diagnosis and treatment of disease processes in women.
  • Information technology professionals who may be involved in the transition of a women's health facility from a film and paper-based environment to a near film-less and paperless environment.
  • Related healthcare administrators and professionals who need to understand the impact of newer technologies in the diagnosis and management of disease processes in women.
