For Researchers & Inventors

The Office of Biomedical Research Development ("BRDO") is committed to improving the opportunities for current and future URMC researchers and inventors to commercialize intellectual property (“IP”) and engage in collaborations with industry. We work in conjunction with URVentures, the entity primarily involved with invention disclosure, protection, and licensing.

Our role at BRDO is to facilitate each of the many steps in the path from idea to product introduction. Look upon us as a catalyst working with you to lower the energy needed to achieve the desired outcomes.

Our Services

  • Consulting – free one-on-one consultation regarding commercialization of intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and partnering with industry
  • Research and Entrepreneurism Education – MyPath module series: "BRDO: Path from IP to Commercialization"
  • Sparking New Collaborations – connecting you to funding options, commercialization opportunities, or other researchers/inventors within and beyond URMC
  • Industry Outreach – initiating introductions and conversations with industry representatives
  • Campus and Community Outreach – directing you to campus and community resources and services available to support your research or entrepreneurial needs
