Dr. Paula Doyle Joins BRDO

Thursday, October 28, 2021

This month, The Office of Biomedical Research Development (BRDO) is pleased to announce Paula Jaye Doyle, MD, a clinical researcher and innovator, has joined the office part-time as Liaison Manager. In this new role, Dr. Doyle will serve as a bridge between faculty who have cutting edge technologies and clinicians that have identified a clinical need.

Dr. Doyle is a nationally recognized Urogynecologist with a focus on reconstructive pelvic surgery. She is an Associate Professor in the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery with appointments in both Urology and OB/Gyn at the University of Rochester. Her scholarly activities involve clinical research and innovation in medicine.

Dr. Doyle gained her initial experience as an innovator and entrepreneur by collaborating in the development of a polymer that fluoresces under near infrared imaging. This new type of polymer resulted in a patented instrument that localizes tumor tissue intraoperatively, leading to the launch of her start-up company, EndoGlow.

Through the growth of EndoGlow, Dr. Doyle has firsthand knowledge of the balance between academic medicine and entrepreneurship. She has given lectures on medical entrepreneurship at Rochester Institute of Technology, Syracuse University and the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She continues to teach medical entrepreneurship and innovation on the national level through post-graduate coursework.

Dr. Doyle brings her love of innovation and the creative scientific process to BRDO with the goal of bringing together highly skilled researchers and clinicians looking to advance patient care.
