Dr. Zhou arrived in April 2015 for a 12-month visit to work with Drs. Hulin Wu and Xing Qiu  to develop statistical methods for differential equations with applications to biomedical science, in particular, in immune responses and computational algorithms, as well as implementation methods.

Dr. Liu arrived in September 2011 for a 10-month visit to collaborate with Dr. Hulin Wu. Dr. Liu's research interests include semiparametric models, mixed models, and microarray data analysis. She is collaborating with Dr. Wu to develop new inference methods for high-dimensional semiparametric differential equation models. During a previous visit in June-July 2007, Dr. Liu conducted collaborative research with Dr. Hua Liang.

Dr. Yanev arrived for a two-month visit in May 2009. During his stay he conducted collaborative research with Dr. Hyrien on branching stochastic processes and their applications to cell biology. During prior visits beginning in January 2008, January 2007 and January 2005, Dr. Yanev taught a course on stochastic processes and collaborated with Drs. Yakovlev and Hyrien in applications of the theory of branching stochastic processes in experimental studies of CNS development and leukemia.

Dr. Wan arrived in March 2006 for an 18 month visit. During his stay Dr. Wan collaborated with Prof. Xin Tu on a number of projects including (1) developing statistical methods for evaluating and measuring quality of life for patients with mental health and other related chronic diseases; (2) developing statistical methods for analysis, evaluation and utilization of health resources; and (3) developing statistical methods for assessing rater bias and rater reliability and for comparing different methods for assessing rater-based or self-report data. In addition, Dr. Wan and Prof. Tu worked together to develop non-parametric methods to improve the performances of existing methods for assessing item responses.

Dr. Tyurin was with the Department for 4 months beginning in September 2006. His areas of interests include mathematical methods of statistics, especially nonparametric statistics, and applications of statistical methods in economics and social sciences. During his stay Dr. Tyurin lectured on Probability to graduate students and conducted research on gene expressions.

Jin-Ting Zhang, PhD

Dr. Zhang was with the Department for two months in November and December 2003, and returned for a second visit from November 2004 to December 2005. During his stays he collaborated with Dr. Hulin Wu and completed two book chapters for their coauthored book, Nonparametric Mixed-Effects Models for Longitudinal Data Analysis. Dr. Zhang's research work is related to Dr. Wu's NIH-funded project, "Nonparametrical Modeling of Long-Term HIV/Cell Dynamics."

Dr. Klebanov was with the Department for a nine-month visit starting in October 2003. While here, he collaborated with Drs. A. Yakovlev and A. Gordon conducting research in statistical methods for microarray data analysis. He also worked with Dr. Yakovlev on a new statistical test for sufficient follow-up in cure-rate analysis of survival data.

Dr. Hsieh conducted research on asymptotic distributions and covariance structure of the empirical processes of generalized survival functions and on effects on measures of association of different epidemiological designs. He taught a course on statistical methods in epidemiology and supervised Anthony Conde’s thesis, entitled "Meta-Analysis of Positron Emission Tomography versus Computed Tomography Imaging in the Staging or Restaging of Head and Neck Cancers with Histological Confirmation."
