Biography

I see and treat patients representing the full spectrum of digestive and liver diseases, including providing a diagnosis and workup for gastrointestinal and liver cancer. My areas of expertise include gastroenterology and transplant hepatology.

Professional Background

Dr. Werth is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and the Medical Director of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy at UR Sawgrass and serves as the Associate Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship training program. He attended medical school at University of Kansas, Kansas City. He did his internship, residency and fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard, Boston. Dr. Werth is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. Dr. Werth has previously held faculty appointments with medical schools in Texas and North Carolina. He assisted with the establishment of the liver transplant program in Charlotte and is experienced in the care of patients with advanced hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal disease. He has participated in a number of clinical research trials including treatments of Hepatitis C Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Cirrhosis and IBS.
