Citrus Macerated Strawberries
By adding citrus juice to berries, the juices are drawn out of the fruit to create natural syrup. The process is known as “macerating”. The citrus also enhances the berries’ flavor.
- 1 ½ cups ripe strawberries
- 1 ½ tsp orange juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
- Wash and hull the strawberries. Slice strawberries and put into a bowl.
- Add the orange juice and orange zest. Mix together. Cover, refrigerate for about 1 hour to let the flavors and juice develop.
