As a complement to other treatments, apheresis can provide benefits to patients with a number of hematology/oncology, neurology, and nephrology/rheumatology conditions, including, but not limited to: Leukemia Multiple Myeloma / Waldenstrom Guillain-Barré Syndrome Myasthenia Gravis Transplant rejection Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura Goodpasture’s Syndrome (rare) Depending on the condition, your hematologist oncologist will request the best apheresis treatment for you. You may receive this treatment as an inpatient or outpatient. Either an IV or a central line catheter may be used to transfer blood to and from the apheresis machine.
